Bali is a dream almost all year round! The dry season (April to October) is the perfect time to enjoy sunny days, postcard-perfect beaches, and amazing waves for surfing. But even during the rainy season (November to March), the island never loses its charm, rain showers are usually short, making the landscapes even greener and more lush, while the sun still makes frequent appearances. In short, Bali always knows how to win you over! 🌿☀️

To visit Indonesia, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. For stays up to 30 days, you can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at the airport for about 32€, or request it online to save time. If you plan to stay longer, you'll need to obtain a specific visa before your trip. Always check for updated information on official websites.

The currency in Indonesia is the Rupiah (IDR). In Bali, we mostly paid in cash, using credit/debit cards only on rare occasions. We recommend withdrawing money from local ATMs (with a small fee) or exchanging it at authorized exchange centers, avoiding the airport as the rates there are usually higher. Remember, bargaining is part of the culture, so the better you are at it, the less you'll pay!

Balinese cuisine is one of our favorites and suits all types of diets. Almost every dish has a version without meat or fish, often replaced by tofu or tempeh. Our favorite dishes? Nasi Goreng, a delicious fried rice with eggs, vegetables, spicy soy sauce, and a protein of your choice (or Mi Goreng if you prefer noodles), and Satay, spicy skewers of chicken, tempeh, or tofu. For an authentic experience, try them at the typical Warung, local, affordable eateries with a family-like atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the tropical fruit! Try snake fruit, dragon fruit, durian (beware of the smell!), mangosteen, rambutan, duku, coconut, and more... An explosion of exotic flavors! 🥥🍍🥭

Bali offers a wide range of accommodations, from luxurious villas to hostels, but we chose the traditional homestays. Here, you can live closely with local families, observe their daily life, and even participate in some activities with them. The hosts are always ready to help with itineraries, motorbike rentals, SIM cards, laundry, and much more. Additionally, the prices are very affordable, and by staying here, you'll support small local businesses instead of big hotel chains. Often, breakfast is included, allowing you to enjoy delicious local dishes from the morning. An authentic and unforgettable experience! 🌿🏡

The best way to get around Bali is to rent a scooter, often at a very affordable price (always negotiate!). Remember to have an international driver's license, which is required to drive legally on the island. If you’re not comfortable with the chaotic traffic, you can always use the Grab and GoJek apps to book private motorbikes or cars. Additionally, many homestays offer a private driver service, perfect for exploring the island in comfort. 🚗🏍️
